W.BRO. RAMEZ (RAY) YOUSEF CHAAR passed to the Grand Lodge Above on Tuesday, December 12, 2006 at the age of 69. Initiated on January 11, 1971 he was Worshipful Master of Civil Service Lodge No. 148 in 1978. He was awarded Life Membership in 2003.

During his term as Worshipful Master, his rich, sonorous voice revealed the ritual work with characteristic perfection. He was an outstanding Worshipful Master, guiding the activities of the Lodge with care and ability and he left an indelible mark on the brethren.

Ray is remembered by all as a person of calm dignity, impeccable character and sincere dedication; a good man and a good mason.

During his later years, even as illness overtook him, W.Bro. Chaar maintained a steadfast interest in the affairs of the Craft in general and our Lodge in particular. The world is today a lesser place for his passing.
